Portals to the Present is a collection of work that is 3 years in the making. While I was making these paintings I was going through a life altering transformation. I went through a divorce, became a single mom, lost my dad, was displaced from the home I raised my son in, and went through major hip surgery…but through all that I kept painting. Each piece I made connected me to where I was in that moment and helped me process what I was going through and make decisions that brought me to today. Each piece in the collection is a beautiful detail that was cut from a larger painting. It is hard to find the good in times of darkness, but like these paintings that have been cut from their chaotic foundations, I am able to see myself more clearly.
